Do you have a great idea for a business? Pitch it to a panel of experts and investors for a chance to bring the idea to life!

A 3 minute pitch + 3 minutes of Q&A = your shot at $1,000 cash (and a cool bullet point to add to your resume!)

The 2018 Competition will take place at the Student Expo on April 12, 2018.

Top prize gets $1,000

Runner-up gets $500

Two honorable mentions get $250 each

To qualify, all contestants must: 

WRITE a one page summary of your idea and submit by April 4

If selected as a finalist, you must:

PREPARE a 3-minute pitch (power point optional)

PRESENT your pitch to a panel of business professionals and be prepared to field their questions for 3 minutes

It is also recommended that you ATTEND a preparatory workshop March 28 or March 29 from 3:05 – 4pm

Cash Prizes: As mentioned, prizes are $1,000 for 1st; $500 for 2nd, and $250 each for two honorable mentions

Additional Recognition: Feature article in the Center for Entrepreneurship and TechGROWTH Ohio websites – At the discretion of the judges, successful technology pitches with near-term commercialization potential may be offered further no-cost consulting with TechGROWTH Ohio, and the opportunity to compete for highly selective additional business development funding from TechGROWTH.

Competition Timeline

April 4—Submit your idea one-pager by 5pm HERE

March 28 or 29 – (Recommended) Attend ONE scheduled workshop from 3:05 – 4pm in Tupper 104B on March 28 or ARC 140 on March 29

April 6 – You will receive confirmation of your status (finalist or honorable mention)

April 9 —Finalists will receive their time slot for the competition

April 12—2018 Idea Pitch Competition at the Convocation Center!!

PRESENTATIONS: You MUST arrive 5-10 min before your scheduled competition time slot. There will be many presentations the day of the event and to ensure smooth transitions, please arrive early. Any tardiness will decrease your total time to present to the judges.
